Fun Weekend!

Wow! What a full weekend! Yesterday we went to the Jacksonville Zoo. We didn't really know how the kids were going to do... we hoped that they were old enough to enjoy it and it turned out better than we had hoped.

The Jacksonville Zoo is incredible! It's right on the water too and the exhibits were really nice. I usually have a hard time going to zoos because I feel so horrible about the animals being caged up and stuff but this zoo wasn't too bad at all. The kids really enjoyed the aviaries where the birds can fly around and are really close to you. They were able to see a lot of ducks and birds. Callie saw the jaguar and yelled, "Kitty!" She was definitely right and we had to laugh! The kids enjoyed the giraffes the most. You can even feed them so we were able to get pretty close.

The best part of the day for them (and for us) was the carousel. They were so excited and so scared at the same time! They were squealing and bug-eyed and laughing and shaking. I can't wait to take them on another one!
We were there a good two hours before they started getting cranky so we kind of sprinted past the monkeys to get out of there before it hit the fan. It was a really fun afternoon. Afterwards, we went to visit my aunt and uncle and spent the night with them. My aunt stuffed us full and we drank and had a little too much fun so when 6:30 came around this morning, Brent and I both looked and felt like death. Then we had to load up in the car and come home so that we could make it back to our friends' house for a Daytona 500 party. We rallied and had a lot of fun there too! No one really watched the race at all... it was basically just an excuse to get together, drink some more, and let the kids play together. We had so much fun but I guarantee you that both of us are going to be asleep before 9:00 tonight!
