"Big Toothed Willie"

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!
Today was fun and we even kept the babies up a little bit so that they could see some of the kids come up. We carved pumpkins, drank beer or formula (respectively), and watched spooky crap on tv while we passed out candy. Brent's pumpkin was a mutilated mess that we dubbed "Big Toothed Willie". He jacked up his first attempt at carving a face so badly that he had to turn the pumpkin around and use the other side. He ended up duct-taping a big piece of cardboard over the back of it so that you couldn't see all the way through the pumpkin. He's a true Michelangelo.

Miss Independent
My baby girl is having nothing to do with me. She's in this independent phase. She's on the move and she knows she can crawl anywhere she feels like crawling. If you pick her up, she tries to get down. She has no idea where she wants to go or what she wants to do, she just knows that she CAN and it feels like a knife digging into my heart when my little baby can't be bothered to be held or cuddled by her momma. She's too busy and has apparently has more important things to do!
Both kids are loving walking around while they hold our fingers. I'm sure it's a whole new point of view for them and they look like they feel really proud while they are doing it! My snugly and sweet little newborns have been replaced by sticky little cheerio eating toddlers.

A Monkey Milestone!
"We love the creepy puppets!"
Monkey dude - doin' his thang!
The babies' cousins sent them a really sweet little Halloween package full of lots of fun stuff with these two Halloween cards in them. I thought they were so precious that they were worth sharing. (Callie tried to eat the white card when we showed it to her - shocking...I know!)

Thank goodness...
I dropped my camera a couple weeks ago and sent it in to get it fixed. It took forever for me to get it back and it felt like I was missing a piece of me! The weekend before last, my parents were here to check on their house and last weekend we took the kids to a pumpkin patch in Charleston that totally sucked. I think we were really just looking for an excuse to drive up there and enjoy the city so it turned out great anyway. Sunday, we designated to the dogs and took them to the beach and then to the doggie wash and then they got rawhides and crashed hard as soon as we got them home. It was fun for us too and the mutts were totally due for a day of spoilage! Here are some fun pictures of the kids...

The other day, I learned that in Bali, you never let your child's feet touch the ground if they are six months of age or younger. That's because they are considered to be so fresh from God that they are still part God and you would never sit God on the floor. I'm only sad that I learned this when my kids were eight months old and not sooner.
I'm reading this book called "Eat, Pray, Love" on the New York Times Bestseller right now. In the book, the author talks about how a medicine man in Indonesia taught her that to know God, "you must stop looking at the world through your head and to use your heart instead." Everyday, I see the babies enjoying the world with their hearts and it overwhelms me. I feel like I've been given a window to God through them. Today I saw Callie enjoying the wind as I would imagine a personified God to enjoy the wind. She turned directly towards the wind (in her little roundabout thing), closed her eyes, raised her arms above her head and stood on her tippytoes as if she was a bird trying to take off and fly. It made her giggle and scream with delight as it softly blew on her skin and through her hair. I don't know what I did to deserve seeing this pure beauty every day.

Hambone Phlegmingway
Hambone's smile is out of control. I can't get a good genuine picture of the cheeseball anymore because when he sees the camera, he gives the phoniest smile he can make. Also, what is this phenomenon that babies don't know how to clear their throat? You would think it was instinctual for them to have a clear and open airway. Anyway, Monkey constantly has a frog in his throat and I find myself clearing my own throat when I am around him like I'm trying to do it for him or something. It drives me nuts listening to that kid breathe deeply for hours with a wad of phlegm in there. Same thing happens when I'm feeding them. Brent always makes fun of me because I open up my mouth as the food goes into theirs.
I had no idea it was possible to get more water on the walls and floor than in the bathtub itself!
But, dude cut his first tooth today! Yea! Peeny has two teefs now (she cut the second one a couple days after the first) and Monkey has one. Peeny's teeth are only about 2mm tall so you can't really see them in a picture yet. Wyatt's crater is really teeny tiny but it's definitely there! The kids asked to try out their new pearly whites on steak and lobster tonight, but we said no. So, they got the attitude problem and had to settle for orange sludge.

Happy October 1st!
Wow! The weather here was absolutely perfect today! The squirts played outside this afternoon while we farted around in the yard and cleaned out the garage. I love Fall! Wyatt was obsessed with watching the cars drive by and Peeny liked watching little bugs fly around. It was so nice! Also, the turkey boogers are officially 8 months old today! It just ridiculous how fast it goes!
Just an update!
So, the babies are finally moved into their own rooms permanently. (Only 8 months late!) Because Wyatt feels the need to snore, he was a pretty crappy roommate. We had hoped they would be able to share a room until they were like 2 or something, but Wyatt had other plans. Anyway, Brent had to move his office and it was painted blue over the weekend. The nursery that they shared is now a precious pink. I guess we'll know the next time we have twins, to let them determine sleeping arrangements after they are here. (I hope I never have to apply this lesson learned to the future!)

Besides painting, we watched a ton of football, saw some friends, and Pops has officially started working here in Savannah. Mom is still in Alabama until the house in Bluffton is finished. (Mom - Here are the pictures I took for you yesterday.)
The babies are doing really well! Callie has started scooting around now too although she only uses one foot to push off with so she is a little bit of a sidewinder. Also, she's started doing 'bye-bye' with her hand! She opens it and closes it repeatedly when we say "bye-bye"! So freaking cute. I think if I could eat her, I would. Wyatt is hauling ass around the house so fast that he's already gotten into the ashes in the fireplace, chewed the vacuum cleaner cord, and tried to rip the tail off the cat! I'm so screwed!
