January in Pics!

Twin sisters!
Daddy was a good sport.  She also gave him a pedicure which has been highly
entertaining in this unseasonably warm flip-flop weather.  Ha!

New Years Resolutions

2011 was a roller coaster ride!  It had some awesome highs and burning lows all of which helped me to grow.  It spit me out much differently than I was going into it but I'm grateful for all the blessings the year brought and for the blessings that we still have.

Anyway, two of my resolutions for this year are easy.  I would like to continue to eat only humane certified meats and eggs.  Also, I'm always way too worried about what other people think and would like to toss that perspective out the window.  This year, I'm focused on pursuing my happiness.

Also for 2012, I hope to be more financially aware. Brent and I were laughing the other night that it has literally been almost 10 years since I've even opened a bill.  Seriously, I hate checking the mailbox because bills are in there. It's a festering mental illness because in my brain, I feel like the bills will go away or something if I don't acknowledge them.

However, I do realize that I am 32 and should be at least mature enough to monitor the transactions on my own credit card.  I dove into it yesterday and my eyeballs started twitching.  Did you know that gas isn't free!?  Seriously, swiping my cute, Nemo embossed, magical card means it will show up later on your credit card statement.  Damn.

Callie and Wyatt also wanted to get in on the resolution action.  Callie resolved not to hit anyone (which she never does anyway).  Wyatt resolved not to pull anyone's hair (which he never does either).  Regardless, they are great resolutions which I'm sure they'll have no problem keeping.  Heh.

Here's to an awesomely happy and healthy 2012 for all of us!

Happy New Year 2012!

We had such a great New Years Eve even though the kids and I passed out before 10.  We were planning on going to the golf ball drop at the lighthouse on Sea Pines, but the kids weren't feeling it and were way too focused on getting fireworks instead.  We took them to the fireworks store and let them pick out whatever they wanted.  Unfortunately, some of them were so big they were too scared to light them off.  We still lit off a ton, naming each one of them before sending them off to their explosive death.

Because we all reeked of smoke, I threw each kid in the shower and discovered that Callie had stuck a corn kernel up her nose after dinner from the night before.  The poor thing had been dealing with it for more than 24 hours because she was so afraid we would get mad at her.  Luckily, we were able to retrieve it with tweezers.  She was so embarrassed!  I'm sure she loved the fact that Brent and I were rolling around on the bathroom floor, laughing like a pair of cracked out hyenas.

Then, the nuggets and I devised an evil plan to crawl into my bed and pretend to fall asleep (fake snoring like a litter of pigs) so that they could sleep downstairs in my bed.  Too bad all three of us accidentally really fell asleep.  Poor dad was stuck out in the living room on the couch.  Ha!

In the morning, we headed to Coligny beach for the 6th annual polar bear plunge.  At the last minute, the organizers had to cancel the event because of a random infestation of Portuguese man-of-war jellyfish.  A bunch of hard core peeps who had already scoured the area for jellies and didn't see any, decided to take the plunge anyway and so did my babies!

Merry Christmas

Christmas Eve was precious.  We watched a ton of movies during the day while the kids played with some toys we had let them open early from grandma and grandpa.  My mom and aunt went to Catholic service while the rest of us congregated at the folks house and ate the hell out of some pizza.  Then, we let the kids exchange presents with each other.

We headed back home to set the cookies out for Santa and to wrap the kids up in their room.  Callie still wasn't ready to feel trapped in her room and opted not to be wrapped up.  Wyatt was all about it though. Luckily, I caught a picture of all the presents Santa left right after I heard him scoot back up the chimney.

The kiddos scored big and a lot of Callie's gifts were Bieberlicious. After the loot tornado, daddy made red velvet pancakes for breakfast, and we all headed over to the folks house for the rest of Christmas.  I'm not gonna lie, getting and giving presents is my favorite part of the whole deal.  Also, dinner this year was especially fab since Uncle Binky took over most of the cooking.  It was another typically great Christmas!

I don't even think Brent's eyes are open yet.

Christmas Adam Eve

Isn't it funny how the kids get out of school and parents stop working in an effort to spend more time with family, yet it seems to be the busiest time of the year?  We've had so much going on, it feels like we have a revolving front door and Brent and I only get to acknowledge each other's existence in passing.

Regardless, it's been fun.  The twinados had a performance at school which was so freaking cute.  And they had a Christmas party at school where I had another grateful-for-pinterest moment.  Look how cute these little reindeer donuts are!  My flash of room-mommy brilliance was quickly doused in pee when we realized Wyatt had an ear infection so severe that it resulted in a ruptured ear drum.  Trophy for me!

Separately, we took the kids shopping to pick out presents for each other which is always one of my favorite parts of Christmas.  This year, I took Callie who already knew without a doubt that she wanted to get Wyatt a stuffed hippo.  We found one that sings "I want a hippopotamus for Christmas...", which is also his very favorite song.  It's awesome.  She's having a really tough time keeping the secret because it's so unbelievably perfect for him. Last year, she told me within 30 seconds of walking through the front door with daddy that he had bought me some earrings. This year so far, she's making progress.

Brent took Wyatt shopping and just like last year, he couldn't focus at all.  He gets so excited looking at all the toys with buttons, like a squirrel in a sea of nuts.  Little guy.  It was so bad in fact, that they ended up leaving and going back the next day after he had put some thought into it.  He picked out a makeup set which I'm sure she'll love.

Anyway, Uncle Binky is in town with my furry niece and more family arrives tomorrow, on Christmas Adam.  Today, we've been busy chiseling the gross off this house so our company doesn't feel like they need hazmat suits to stay here.  Here are some more fun pictures from last few days:
