We had such a great New Years Eve even though the kids and I passed out before 10. We were planning on going to the golf ball drop at the lighthouse on Sea Pines, but the kids weren't feeling it and were way too focused on getting fireworks instead. We took them to the fireworks store and let them pick out whatever they wanted. Unfortunately, some of them were so big they were too scared to light them off. We still lit off a ton, naming each one of them before sending them off to their explosive death.
Because we all reeked of smoke, I threw each kid in the shower and discovered that Callie had stuck a corn kernel up her nose after dinner from the night before. The poor thing had been dealing with it for more than 24 hours because she was so afraid we would get mad at her. Luckily, we were able to retrieve it with tweezers. She was so embarrassed! I'm sure she loved the fact that Brent and I were rolling around on the bathroom floor, laughing like a pair of cracked out hyenas.
Then, the nuggets and I devised an evil plan to crawl into my bed and pretend to fall asleep (fake snoring like a litter of pigs) so that they could sleep downstairs in my bed. Too bad all three of us accidentally really fell asleep. Poor dad was stuck out in the living room on the couch. Ha!
In the morning, we headed to Coligny beach for the 6th annual polar bear plunge. At the last minute, the organizers had to cancel the event because of a random infestation of Portuguese man-of-war jellyfish. A bunch of hard core peeps who had already scoured the area for jellies and didn't see any, decided to take the plunge anyway and so did my babies!
