Melanoma the Frog

We have this frog. It's a precious tree frog and it hops up on our bathroom window every night to eat the bugs that are attracted to the lights on inside the house. He's been visiting us daily for the last couple of months and Brent and I have grown quite attached to the little doobie. He's our buddy. Infact, some nights we leave the light on an extra long time just to give him a little more time to eat bugs. I named him (and I'm only assuming he's a him) "Mel" after Melissa Etheridge's song, "Come to my window" and Brent later spontaneously extended it out to "Melanoma" while freestyling a song about it in the shower one night.

Anyway, he didn't come see us the first night after we went out of town. I wasn't digging it and I was worried he either hopped away to a new bug stakeout location, or withered away into dried up frog jerky. Thankfully, he came back to us last night! We know it's him because of the markings on his tiny pot belly. I love him... he's a bright spot in our evenings. Melanoma Harbin.

Great Wolf Lodge - Concord

We had a really long, fun weekend. We left on Saturday and since Brent took Monday off, we didn't have to come back until late last night. The greatest part about the trip was that we both felt like we had been gone an entire week!

Since the kids aren't peeing in their pants anymore and mainline juice like no other, it took an extra hour to get up there. Staying true to form, our first stop was IKEA and then we headed to the mall so Santa could hit up the Disney store. We checked into our hotel, went out to dinner and then stalked the Lowes Motor Speedway since it was right next door.

In the morning, we checked into Great Wolf Lodge which was pretty much the purpose of our entire trip. We played in the waterpark all day barely pausing at all to eat and got up early the next morning to play some more. The kids had a blast! Callie was overly cautious of the water slides at first, but by the second day she was going down them like a pro. Wyatt was obsessed by floating on his back completely in his own world. It was so funny because even in the shallowest part of the pools, he was determined to float his way to his destination.

Yesterday, they were getting pretty exhausted so we let them play until the meltdowns hit the point of no return before packing up and heading home. It was such a great weekend for the kids although, I would probably wait to go back to the lodge until one of them is at least 42 inches tall. At that point, they can go on all the big slides with an adult and wouldn't be confined to the little kid areas. Brent and I had fun, but I was over wading in kiddie piss after 2 days.

Tonizzle My Nizzle

Can I get a witness for the perfection of the Chick-Fil-A chicken biscuit with cheese?! It's comforting like no other. I would turn up any sweet treat for that cheesy and crunchy fistfull of happiness.

Anyway, I'm sitting here on a mile-high pile of eggshells and holding my breath while my Torny is under anesthesia getting his teeth cleaned, butt shaved, and bloodwork drawn. Because of his under-developed brain (cerebellar hypoplasia - he's literally retarded) and his asthma, he doesn't cope well with any surgeries and I'm just sick to death worrying about my buddy.

All four of us took him to the vet this morning because I pathetically needed that much emotional support. After that, we headed to the fillet of Chick to drown my psychotic worries in a numero uno con queso. It tasted like an edible hug. Anyway, send lucky thoughts in our direction for my retarded fur nugget.

Update: Tony did great and came out of surgery like a champ although he is fuming pissed and hissing at everything within a 1 mile radius. He did have one cavity but his bloodwork was perfect. Hooray!

Meet Georgia!

Happy Father's Day! We adopted a manatee for Brent for Father's Day through Jimmy Buffett's rescue foundation. Her name is Georgia and she is an orphan they found in Brunswick. She was rehabilitated at SeaWorld and released in Blue Springs State Park.

We had hoped to visit her over the weekend on a camping trip, but she already headed north for the summer. Hopefully, we'll get to see her in the fall when the weather cools down and she comes home. Sweet baby! Wyatt is in love with her because he thinks she's a hippo.

Random Pic

I found this picture yesterday afternoon when I was cleaning out a box from the attic and it was one of my favorite moments ever. It was taken a little less than two months before I got knocked up with the twinks. I was so completely enthralled and smitten with that lil' guy - I think his name was Leroy. I got to check it off my bucket list that day but I can't wait to go back with the kids. So fun!

Sick as a mutha!

I finally succumbed to the nasty eye virus thing and it turned out it was just the precursor to a horrific snot storm. Brent was out of town on Tuesday and I couldn't hang anymore so I asked him to come home which I had never done before. Thank goodness I did because on Wednesday, I was hit with a migraine too. Crazy sinus pressure plus a migraine led to absolute hell on earth. I couldn't even stand up I was in so much pain. The only thing I have ever experienced more painful than that was after my c-section when the doctor turned off my spinal block with zero medication on-board. Good times.

Anyway, I was so wiped out by Thursday that all I wanted to do was rest. I finally started coming back to life on Friday. Over the weekend, we went to a birthday party, shopped, and ran errands. Also, it's hot as balls here! We've already hit the 100s (the heat index today is 110!) and it's starting to get kind of like reverse winter since it's too hot to play outside all the time. Yuck!

Callie switched to big girl underwear on Sunday but I'm not holding my breath. We have bribed her with everything under the sun. Right now, the running list is going to the Bippity Boppity Boutique, letting her get her ears pierced, a big girl bed, a necklace and a ring. Please believe girlfriend has the list memorized and continues to add new items to it weekly. Too bad it's still not enough for her to fully commit to potty training. Anyway, I just uploaded pictures to my computer for the first time in a few weeks so I'm just going to post a handful of random ones.

They can't get enough of bubbles! Callie never remembers to hold her bottle straight and spills them all within the first 5 minutes. Wyatt always willingly shares with her and never complains. Sweet boy.

Callie's blueberry tongue after Brent's Sunday morning pancakes. It's becoming tradition and I'm loving sleeping in and waking up to a newspaper, coffee, pancakes, and bacon that I didn't have to lift a finger to make!

Being lazy and watching tv together on the couch. Nuggets.

The kids have been on a coloring kick lately. Callie colors everything in rainbows. She'll spend hours coloring one picture which is completely opposite of crackhead who - if he slows down enough to draw more than one small scribble on each page - will color as fast as he can to get it done in under 5 seconds. Such a nut.

This pic came off my phone. Last week, I took Callie out on a fun little shopping trip specifically for her to pick out any dress she wanted and she chose this. I love it like no other because it's so unbelievably typical of her. It's rainbowy and frilly and perfectly Callie. It cracks me up! (She told me that she needed a matching purse and shoes too.) She is such a girl!

Happy Memorial Day!

We stayed at home with the fam for Memorial Day which was kind of a bummer since one of my favorite peeps was in Savannah for the weekend. We never got the chance to catch up though because I was sick and caught some viral eye infection from Wyatt that he had just gotten over the week before. Of course, I forgot to throw away all my eye makeup and was struck by virus-eye again this weekend. Boo to the hysterectomy. Anyway, it sucked so we stayed close to home.

My parent's came over for some awesome bbq on Saturday (recipe below) and Brent took the kids to see the new Shrek movie on Sunday which they loved. B-town was overly infested with tourists on Memorial weekend. It's always shocking to see the weekend invasions during beach season. And while it makes for some miserable traffic, we are thankful because this town couldn't run without them.

Here is the easiest and best recipe for pulled pork ever! It was done in less than 4 hours and quite possibly rivaled Brent's beloved Jim and Nick's. (You gots to doctor up yo sammich the right way tho wit a dash of A1, some slaw, and dill pickles. Yes ma'am!) I'm also writing down an easy Publix recipe for black bean and corn salad which takes two seconds to make and is damn good. I hope you guys had a great Memorial Day too! God Bless our troops!

Pulled Bbq Pork
3-4 lbs. boneless pork (We used Boston Butt but you can use any cut of pork)
1 can beef broth (I used 14 oz. of water with 2 beef boullion cubes)
1/2 bottle of fave bbq sauce (Ours is Bullseye Carolina Style - it's awesome!)

Throw the pork and broth in a crock pot on high for 4 hours. When it's done, get your hubby to tear it up and remove the fat. I can't do this part or I'll puke. Preheat oven to 350. Toss the pulled pork with your bbq sauce and spread it out on a baking sheet. Throw it in the oven for 25 minutes or until the tops get a little crispy. I tossed it through some more bbq sauce after I baked it only because I love the mustardy tang of Carolina bbq. That's it!

Corn and Black Bean Salad
1 can black beans (drained and rinsed)
1 can corn (drained)
1/2 bag spring mix salad
1 chopped tomato
1/2 cup spicy ranch dressing (more or less to taste)

Toss it all together and top with tortilla strips!

Cruise Wrap-up!

I never got around to finishing up about our cruise! The last two days were pretty calm. We stopped in Cozumel against some looming and pretty threatening weather so our excursion to the Mayan ruins was cancelled. Instead, Brent and I spent the day downtown shopping and eating and luckily, the weather held out.

The last day at sea was actually our very first opportunity we had to lay out by the pool. There was just so much to do and see. It was beyond relaxing and left us kind of sad that we hadn't made more time to laze by the pool because it was so nice to sit there, book in one hand and icy cold beverage in the other. Reading became a luxury after the twinados were born. These are two of my favorite pictures from the entire cruise. Dorkwad applied his own sunscreen.

We woke up early in the morning and ate breakfast on our balcony even though we were already docked in Port Canaveral. I choked back some tears knowing it was our last morning of vacation. I was so ready to get home to see the kids, but I was so not ready to give up having Brent all to myself. I feel like I rarely get to see him although we physically live under the same roof. We said goodbye to that kind of freedom such a long time ago and it was hard to let it go again as we walked off that boat.

But, the good news is that we already have another one booked! And this time, we are going with the nuggets! There is a new boat that is currently under construction that won't hit the water until next year. It's called the Disney Dream and the four of us couldn't be more pumped for it already! Unfortunately, we are going to have to wait until next year, but I am so anxious to see how excited the kids are going to be when we walk on that ship! Woot! Woot!

We are completely addicted to cruising! It's like jamming a needle in your veins!

Bloggy Cleansing!

I feel like I can breathe again! To make a long story short, there were a few inappropriate people who have been following my blog which has been hindering my desire to post as much as I would like to. It's been weighing on me for quite awhile because I didn't want to lose the people who were kind enough to read my blog even though they had never met me. However, my blog also serves a baby book for the nuggets and I was getting frustrated finding motivation to post knowing it was going to be seen by the wrong people.

Anyway, I hope I made the right decision. I apologize for my bloggy slackiness which had been going on long enough to the point that it should maybe even be called bloggy mono. I dig it. I had bloggy mono.

I will come up with something stellarly creative for my first real entry and thank you guys for loving us so much to keep checking up on us and looking at pics from time to time. It always makes my day to hear that you guys keep up with our dorky shenanigans! Love you all!
