Guess Who's 5?!

It's true.  My babies are 5!  I can't believe it.  When they were born, I always thought about them turning 5; what it would be like when they went off to school, what they would look like, and what their little personalities would be.  Well, here they are.  And wow.  I am so grateful for these two halves of my heart!

I wish I could do it all over again.

But they woke up on their birthday, cute as ever, and they were five.  It still shocks me.  In five more years, they'll be ten.  Then fifteen.  It's all too much for a momma to think about.  I have no idea how parents survive it when children leave for college.  Clearly, they do.  I just can't get my head around it. I feel like my only chance of surviving that trauma would be to be placed in a medically induced coma for awhile.

Anyway, their birthday was precious.  We actually celebrated for a few days in a row.  They went to Chuck E. Cheese, had a little classroom party at school, got tons of presents, and met my parents out for our traditional teppanyaki birthday dinner.  It was cute.  The best part of that day for me, was catching those minutes between 2:13-2:14pm and hugging them so tight (possibly with a death-grip) as they those babies closed the door on being 4 and turned 5.  Sniff.

A few days later, they had their birthday party at the new bowling alley which was absolutely fabulous.  Seriously, I never had to lift a finger.  We even had a party planner there who gathered and directed all the kids.  My only responsibility was taking pictures.  We just stayed out of the way and let them have fun.  It was awesome!

So, them turning five wasn't as traumatic as I had pictured it to be.  But I've come to realize that my babies will always be my babies even when they are grandparents themselves.  I still can't believe how lucky I am to have been chosen to be their mom.  They are so stinkin cute!

Happy Belated Birthday to Callie and Wyatt! We'll be sending eachother care packages when the four of them are off to college just to cope. I just hope they go together so I don't have to split my time between the two of them!

Looks like they had a great extended birthday celebration. Great job, Mama!
