We are so excited for Christmas! I love this time of year so much even though the kids are hopped up on sugar and acting like insane monkey clowns 99% of the time. The anticipation of everything coupled with the twinking lights and warmth of the Christmas decorations, just makes me feel like we're on vacation in our own home. It's not even here yet, and I already don't want it to be over.
Luckily, we've steered clear of the really cold weather so far and were able to hit the beach again with the pup dogs. Too bad we've gone to the beach more in the last month than we did during the entire summer this year. I tainted the beach by taking the kids there constantly during those horrendous months when Brent was working in Atlanta all the time. Cringe. I think I'm finally over it, thank goodness. The beach is good for the soul.
On Saturday, we went to the Journey in Savannah. I wasn't expecting much, but we went with some friends and an open mind and had the best time ever! It was like a real life reinactment of the days leading up to the birth of Jesus. There were lions, and camels, and boat rides, and food. They had it down to the tiniest details. Even the fish in the Bethlehem market were real and deader than hell. They stunk like a motha.
Everyone got hot chocolate at the end which was really cute. It was all the kids could talk about the next day. Cal said it was like Disney and that she couldn't stop thinking about it. They got these really crappy coloring books at the end which they adore and ask us to read the little story inside to them every night. I'm glad it made such a positive impact on them. Everytime they are exposed to something really unique, Brent and I like to say that they are getting brain crinkles. This was definitely some major brain crinklage.
So, the nuggets really don't have a firm list this year. Mostly, they just ask for the toys they see the most commercials for. It's funny too because all of a sudden, you'll hear one or both of them screaming at Santa up the chimney asking for something they just saw on tv. They're crazy. They only things they ask for repeatedly is an easy bake oven for Callie and an edible zombie brain and barf lab for Wyatt. Peace out sweet innocence.
Here's a few more random pictures from the last few weeks. Fifth's disease is going around the school and their little best friend came down with it over the weekend so I'm pretty sure it will be an early Christmas present at our house too. Cross your fingers for us that we are able to avoid that noid.
