Happy Little Things

It's always the little things that make everyday worth while and the other day, when the kids brought me this little bouquet...

...it made me want to blog about happy little things.

However, I will begin with a BIG happy thing! (I can already hear Big and Rich singing in the background.) I'm soooo gonna be all up in the middle of a Desmond and Kirk sandwich on Saturday with some beer and wangs, foaming at the mouth waiting for college football to start! Are you kidding me!?!? So pumped!!!! And I will be kicking Brent's ass for the 8th year in a row! Please believe! Pops, you are going down too so hard that you'll be nothing but an oily stain on the ground beneath my spit. It's true. PS - Citadel sucks!

Om. Namaste. Moving on. (So excited though.)

Last week, we were having some gooood thunderstorms, and even on the days without storms, we typically get thunder in the evenings. Anyway, my Kiddie boy has been telling the the thunder who's boss. When it starts to rumble, he gives it an angry low-pitched growl bark right back - kinda like he's telling the clouds to piss off. I love it. He never had any issues with storms before and I'm curious to know what the new change in attitude is about. Regardless, that hyena makes me laugh.

Callie helped me make deviled eggs the other day and both runts loved them so much that when we had them with dinner, they both saved it for the very last. This was the first thing that I ever saw either of them wait for and savor. So cute. They were such a hit though in both the making and eating departments that we've made them several times since and I've had a constant flow of deviled eggs stinking up my refrigerator for the last few weeks. I need to put the kibosh down on them now especially since Brent thought it was fine to feed them to the kids for breakfast. Men are from Mars and mine is possibly from Uranus.

THIS is Wyatt's favorite video right now (it won't let me embed). He calls it the hippo song and sings it all the time. Bob Marley's "Three Little Birds" is still his favorite, but this is coming in a close second. He likes to point out that his favorite part is when the dog smacks his own booty. A Uranus baby.

And while we are talking about videos, my friend Heather directed me to this "Wrinkled Ladies" video after listening to me go off on a tangent about being in our 30s and getting ugly. I love it. (You know you are getting old when you can relate to stuff like this. So. Stinkin. Sad.)

I'm putting this one last since it's not necessarily a happy little thing but definitely a tiny thing. We saw this wasp hanging out on the outside of our sliding glass door and it didn't fly away when I got up close and personal with it. I was shocked to see what a wasp looked like up close. It didn't look at all what I thought a wasp's face should look like. Infact, the dumb thing kinda looked like a dog in the face and may have even bordered on being cute.

Please, don't get me wrong - I can't stand wasps. They are scary, emergency-room-senders and they all need to be eliminated. (As one of my friends would say, "If it doesn't have ears and feet, then it's a problem!") But behind glass, they are kind of mesmerizing with their canine-ish mugs and candy cane antennas. I still wish they were on the endangered species list, but for a split-second, I was intrigued.

I keep looking on my dashboard for blog entries and it kept telling me the last was three months old. I just realized that I had missed 3 months of post! Don't worry I did the rational thing and started reading them all so I did not miss out on what is going on with your precious twinkies. They really look grown up after not seeing pictures of them for 3 months! Anyway, I am happy to be back in the Harbin loop!

I'm glad you liked the wrinkled ladies video. I thought it was pretty funny, and yes, it's sad that we can relate already!
