Memorial Day!

Brent and I went to a cookout at our friends' house on Sunday night. It was nice to get out of the house for a minute and the babies slept the whole time so we kind of felt like a couple again. On Memorial Day, Callie got evicted from our bedroom. It was super sad and I wanted to cry. I would love for the kid to sleep in our room forever (and Wyatt too if he didn't snore so loud) but Brent was done with it, so upstairs she went. I took pictures of the big milestone - it was traumatic for me. We'll see how the babies do in the room together.

I got flowers for no reason today. I love those days!

Just An Update

I haven't posted in awhile because I've been going crazy with that scrapbooking stuff! I have a couple of pages that I'm not ready to post because they aren't finished but wow, it's so much fun and did you know that you can go to shutterfly and download the scrapbook pages after you are done making them and the peeps will print the pages in a bound book for $9.99. I'm so excited! Also, I found this program that you can used to customize a font to look like your exact handwriting!!! I know I'm the biggest nerd ever, but seriously, I get all excited about getting to use my own font in my scrapbooking pages. It's crazy typing words out on your computer and seeing it come up on the screen as your own handwriting.

The kids are good. We fed them peas for the first time today. Callie loved them and sucked them right off the end of the spoon. She's going to be a chow hound. Wyatt was a little unsure but ate it better than he had eaten rice cereal. I know it's not exciting, but hey - peas and rice cereal are major topics of my life right now... that, and poop. Yesterday I was playing "superman" with Wyatt (you know how you hold the kid up over your head while they look down at you) because he loves it so much and it always makes him laugh. Well, this time, while he was flying high above my head, he puked on my face!!! Hahaha!!! It was so sick! Brent just about fell off the couch because he was lauging so hard! Pew. Also, please look at homegirl's belly in the picture below!

Family Trip to the A-T-L

The memorial service for Heather's father was this past weekend in Atlanta. We left Thursday night at 8:00 after the kids had fallen asleep and got into Atlanta at 1:00. It seemed like the kids loved the adventure of it because when they woke up in the hotel room they were laughing and smiling so much! They spent the afternoon at their grandparent's house while Brent and I went to the service. It was really nice and it was good to see Heather and her mom and to know that so many people love them and are providing support for them through this really tough time.

After the service, Brent and I went and picked up the kids and took them to IKEA. Wow! IKEA is so awesome and fabulous! It's a good thing that we don't have one in Bluffton, otherwise our house would look like the inside of the IKEA catalog. After that, we decided to truck it on back home so that the kids could wake up in their own beds but we didn't make it past Macon before Brent and I decided we were too tired to make it the whole way. It was nice waking up and taking our time getting home the next morning. It was a total crash course on taking the babies out in public!

Sometime over the weekend, Callie caught a cold in her eye! What the hell is that!?!? I didn't even know nastiness like that existed but I'm sure it's just the first of weird sicknesses that will be brought into this house. Anyway, my point is that I had to take her to the doctor's office this morning for it and of course they weigh your kid at every visit no matter what. WELL... Girlfriend weighs 15 lbs. 8 oz. and is in the 90th percentile for her age!! Porky McPorkerson! The doctor laughed because the last time we were hoping she would even make it on the growth chart because she was a preemie and now Big Bertha is about to fall off the chart on the other end! The doctor started to discuss putting her on a diet as she was checking her height but stopped when she realized that she is also in the 90th percentile for that too! So, my baby is proportionate! She might be an amazon baby, but at least, she is proportionate. I just hope she doesn't grow up to be some huge and big boned ogre! She won't be able to get a date or shop for clothes anywhere other than 'Big & Tall'. Hahahaha! My poor little cal bear.

Prayers For My Heath

My friend Heather lost her dad to cancer this morning at the too young age of 61. She has been a good friend of mine since the beginning of high school and we went to college together too. Please pray for her mom and for her to help them find strength to get them through this horribly tough time. I admire her unwavering faith and hope that she continues to find comfort in Him and to know that one day she will meet her dad again in Heaven.

My First Mother's Day!

Both kids smiled at me this morning! I couldn't have asked for a more perfect mother's day present...

My brother sent me a beautiful bouque of flowers with a card telling me how proud he was of me. It was the sweetest and most thoughtful thing ever! Thank you so much Bink - I love you!

Tiny Vacation

This weekend I went to visit my friend Ape in Charleston without Brent or the babies. I was pretty nervous about how I was going to feel spending a night away from the juicy poots and I really did miss them but it was so ridiculously relaxing and it was nice being able to be myself for a minute instead of a human burp rag. We went shopping and went to lunch at this fun bar on Sullivan's Island called Poe's Tavern. I'm so glad that she's close enough to be able to visit her whenever I want. It was great.

Yesterday evening, Brent and I were getting ready to put the kids to bed when we saw this beautiful rainbow right in the backyard. It was so close and so pretty... the pictures don't even come close to showing how vivid the colors were.
I have found a new hobby that I am giddy about! I know I'm going to sound like a total dork right now, but I just learned about digital scrapbooking about 2 days ago and quickly became obsessed with trying to figure out which packages to use and how to download all the different papers and stickers and buttons and stuff to be able to do my scrapbooking digitally! I'm so excited because it's much easier and cheaper than making the real deal. Here is my first attempt:

My Callie Said "Hi"!!!!!!!

Oh my gosh! My girlfriend said "Hi!" today and I'm not kidding! She had been getting so close for about a week watching my mouth and trying to move it the same way. This morning when I started talking to her and repeating, "Hi. Hi. Hi." she just up and said "Hi!"! I mean it was so perfect sounding that anyone could have recognized it. I freaked out and started trying to get her to say it again but of course she wouldn't. It was just a bunch of babbles after that - but that one time... I think my girlfriend is going to be a genius! Hahaha! I was a very early talker too and said "Hi." at three months old also so I was bound and determined to get one of them talking just as early. Of course, it could have been a fluke and the real test now is if she repeats it but holy crap I was such a proud momma this morning! I swear I thought her first words were going to be "Bless you!" because every time she or Wyatt sneezes she coos something similar to saying 'bless you'. I mean, it's two distinct syllables but of course it sounds nothing like the actual words... but, it happens EVERY TIME one of them sneezes. So crazy cute!

Wyatt has been having an attitude problem and has been refusing to go down for a nap during the day. By the end of the day, he is so cranky and inconsolable that Brent and I have threatened to sell him on Ebay! What a monkey! Both kids are sleeping through the night now and are so fat that they are fitting into their 6 month old clothes. Hahaha! Is that bad?

Steamers and Beer

My mom is in town this week visiting with us and the babies. Brent and I have been dying for fresh blue crabs ever since we moved here but I don't have the heart to kill something that big and my mom is evil and has no problem with it. Plus, we just found a really good roadside seafood stand that sells live crab. Shucking the crabs is a lot of work and by the time you are finished eating, you are soaked in crab gut juices. It's pretty stank but ain't nothin' better than steamers and beer!

Here are some pictures of the babies from this week since I haven't posted any in awhile. I can't believe how fast they are growing!

An Ode to the Furbabies

Since we've had our squirts, our furry children have taken a backseat which I'm assuming has been pretty traumatic for them. Gracie has probably gotten it the worst. She was used to running the show and had Brent and myself at her beckon call. Now, she's lucky if we remember to fill up her food bowl. Initially, she was very skittish of the babies and wouldn't come within 10 feet of the flailing little annoyances. Now, she's becoming super jealous and will try and squeeze herself into spaces between us and the babies. The other day, we caught her grooming Callie's out of control hair. So, as much as she would hate to admit it, I think she's becoming fond of the little boogers. Tony (our retarded cat) is still oblivious to their existence. The puppies are actually quite proud of the runts. We'll take them for a walk with the babies in the stroller and they walk at guard very close to the stroller. Of course, if they happen upon a piece of poop from another dog, it's treat enough to forget their duties as watchdogs. Anyway, here are pictures of the furry kids I took today. Kiddie (the hyena look alike) resembles a piece of very ugly road kill in this picture! He's precious!

R & R

A very uneventful week followed by an even more uneventful weekend. I'm not complaining (it's actually the very first weekend we've had as just the 4 of us) ...I just have nothing to write about. It is nice marinating here in bed, surfing the internet with my girl peanut (as opposed to my boy flavored one) sleeping on my chest and serving the dual purpose of being one of the great loves of my life and a slightly squirmy throw blanket. Anyway, here are some recent pics of the squirts... Love!

Happy Easter & The Other Too-Ate!

Today we celebrated Easter and Brent's 28th Birthday! Ape came up from Charleston to eat brunch with us. Her birthday was 2 days ago on the 6th. We used to celebrate it together when we were little. I hope everyone had a Happy Easter! We miss you all!

The Big Too-Ate!

I can't believe that I'm 28 years old today! I feel like I've got one foot in the grave but I can't complain because it's the first birthday I've had as a momma and I couldn't ask for anything better than that!

Another Whirlwind of Visitors!

So, my little bro left Tuesday morning and my best friend, Laura (aka Aunt Zippy) came into town on Tuesday. She so far has been the only visitor to make it through a whole night of baby feedings! It was great and Brent got to sleep straight through that first night. Of course, I abused the crap out of him by sleeping through at least one feeding every night for the rest of the week. Anyway, Aunt Zippy was awesome and she was completely great with her niece and nephew. More so, she got me back to my roots a bit by being silly and helping me regain my sanity. It was refreshing as hell! We had fun just hanging out and playing with the kids. She left on Saturday afternoon. I miss her so bad!

Another one of my old friends that I've known since kindergarten came into town on Friday to see the little turdballs. She's a momma herself so she was just a natural at scooping up the babies and burping them or playing with them or whatever. I forget how nice it is to talk to someone who has known me since we were both so little. We both have such funny memories of being dorky little kids and getting into trouble together.

The babies are doing so well! We had a doctor's appointment today for them to get their first HUGE round of shots. Callie weighs 10 lbs. 14 oz. and Wyatt is at 10 lbs. 6 oz. We have dubbed her "Big Bertha" since she is turning into such a beast! Poor little Wyatt is starting to look scrawny compared to the Michelin woman. I keep telling her to pack it on while she can because it's the only time in her life when being obese is precious! She's my little homie!

2006 vs. 2007

Shows you how much we've changed! Hahaha! (It's cute Laura...LAUGH!)
